It wasn’t the busiest 4th of July.
Nor was it the most social.
I slept in — for the first time since I started the CPAP. Which leads me to believe that it was due more to jetlag than anything else.
Warren took a three mile walk before the heat got too unbearable.
And the littles, who could have slept all day, were up early and were under the watchful eye of our amazing parents’ helper, Megan.
A trip to Home Depot to support the US economy.
Dinner with some of my sibs at a local brewhouse.
And watching fireworks at a local popular spot. Sure, it was on top of a parking garage and not along Ocean Blvd in SoCal. But our seats were perfect and the fireworks were magnificent.
It was one of the best 4ths ever. Because Asperger’s wasn’t an issue. Ben is at camp. We didn’t have to worry about the late hour. The loud noises. The everpresent bugs. And I’m guessing that Ben, who did not have to contend with these annoying variables, enjoyed the holiday more than usual.
Sometimes laid back is just right.

Sounds like you had the relaxing time you deserved!
Thanks!! It was lovely. We are, however, scheming to make it a bit more social next year. With grilling involved!!
Hope that your 4th was festive too.
Where does Ben go to camp? I worked at a camp in 2007 in North Carolina for kids and adults with autism/aspergers.
It is called Round Lake and is here in PA. It is run by the NJY. We are just so thrilled that he is in a Jewish setting…and for high-functioning kids like him.
